WILL & EVA HUGHES WITH LIAM & CARA - CHILE

Their ministry is providing Bible training to untrained pastors in the rural areas of Southern Chile. They do this by visiting and providing one on one spiritual counseling and encouragement, loaning them DVD Bible related courses and from time to time holding Bible training conferences in their territories.

Over the last few years we have been experimenting with organizing and hosting conferences. As many of you know, since the arrival of our firstborn, setting out into deep Patagonia for three and four weeks at a time hasn't been wise. Our son has had many medical serious problems which have necessitated being close to medical facilities. So, instead we have been focusing time, resources and energy on putting together training events while also continuing to visit rural leaders who live closer to our village.

As we experiment, it has come to light that there is a hunger for condensed, personalized, in-person training among those we strive to serve. It also has come to our attention that a variety of Stateside based ministries, each dedicated to offering quality on-site theological training to church leaders around the world also exist.
 

SMC has had the privilege of coordinating the need with he resource people and hosting Bible training conferences in our home. It has been very well received and we thank God for opening this opportunity to us!

Personally Eva and I feel the most recent conference went well. We were blessed to have two short term teams come down to make the conference possible. 

One group was from a ministry we are developing an ongoing partnership with called Downline Ministries located in Memphis Tennessee. They came down to offer training sessions concerning God’s heart for the world, and how as disciples of Jesus we are to walk out what He has called us to by discipling disciplers… (yeah, it may take a few times through that sentence... I know, but check 2 Timothy 2:2 and you'll see whats up).
 

They poured out their hearts, formally teaching 6 hrs a day for three days strait, and informally teaching by example every 

other waking moment of our time together.

On a side note… If you, your family, or your church are interested in helping host conference in the future, don’t hesitate to reach out! We would love to have you. Volunteering as staff at one of these 4 day events is a great way to get a glimpse into our life, this ministry, and the realities of those we strive to serve.
